I think it is time to give a shout-out to the body’s largest organ–your skin. Many people (myself included) do not take proper care of their skin by giving it all of the love & attention it rightfully deserves. Especially during the winter, my skin is dry, dull, and just unhappy. My unhappy and neglected skin will be no more, I am officially starting a new skin care chapter in my life and so should you. Using the scrubs, remedies, and tips I’m sharing there is no reason for unhappy skin.

Scalp Rejuvenation

Even though we “clean” our scalp every time we shampoo, it does not completely get rid of the dry shampoo, hair spray, dirt, and grease that has built up. This deep cleansing DIY scalp scrub not only helps rejuvenate your scalp, but also makes your hair feel amazing. The salt and oil will stimulate hair growth and removes dandruff, flaky skin, and gunk. The fatty acids in the EVOO coats your hair and shields against damage while the lemon juice dissolves leftover product residue.

You’ll need:

  • 2 tablespoons sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions:

Combine the ingredients and mix thoroughly. Apply to your wet scalp using a firm circular motion and massage for several minutes. Rinse well and then shampoo & condition as usual. Finish your treatment by moisturizing with a pea-sized amount of coconut oil to leave your scalp and hair happy.

My Results:

Because my scalp has minimal (if any) flakes, this scrub did not change my life like the others scrubs did. With that being said, I definitely think this scrub will be amazing for somebody who has dandruff, especially later in the season. The smell was so refreshing and it left my hair super shiny and voluminous. While treating my scalp was the objective, my hair definitely reaped the benefits.

Lip Scrub

Exfoliating is not only for your skin, but also your lips. However, you should not use the same scrub as you would on your skin because your lips are more sensitive and could get damaged. Exfoliating your lips regularly helps prevent cracked winter lips. Ladies, a lip scrub before applying your make-up will make your lipstick/lip liner go on smoother and last longer. To leave your pout looking soft, smooth, and hydrated try this tasty scrub…

You’ll need:

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey

Instructions:

Combine the ingredients and mix together. Apply with your index finger and massage onto your lips using a firm circular motion. When your lips feel smooth (1-2 minutes) wipe away any excess with a damp towel. Apply your favorite lip balm or some coconut oil for added moisture.

My Results:

After using this scrub, my lipstick went on flawlessly and lasted longer than it normally would. I did experience some minor bleeding after scrubbing, but maybe that’s because I scrubbed for too long/hard. My lips went from chapped and flaky to soft, plump, and pink. Because the scrub increases blood flow your lips will have a little more pigmentation then they normally do. I am officially addicted to this lip scrub and I vow to never leave my house without properly prepping my lips.

Body Scrubs

Exfoliating your skin has many benefits, as you know. When you remove the dead skin cells that clog your pores, it allows your skin to breathe and truly shine. While it may be easier to go to the drug store and buy a body scrub, there is no need when you have all the ingredients in your kitchen.

You’ll need:

  • 1/2 cup coffee grounds
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil

Instructions:

Combine the ingredients and mix together. I recommend doing this scrub in the shower to contain the mess. Apply to your body using a firm circular motion and massage for several minutes. Rinse and dry off with a towel. Finish your treatment by moisturizing with coconut oil or your favorite lotion.

My Results:

My biggest tip for this scrub is do it in the shower because there will be a mess, but it was so worth it. My skin has never felt so fresh and clean. I feel like a snake must feel after shedding its skin–brand spanking new. My skin could put a baby’s bottom to shame. I am officially addicted and will be doing this at least once a month from now on.

From now on, my skin’s happiness is my happiness.
